When I was 19 years old, it was my first year of college. I was enjoying my time there in another state. In my second semester of freshman year, I discovered I contracted HIV from my boyfriend. I thought my life was over.

I was so uneducated about HIV, and didn’t know what to do next. I soon educated myself and realized this was not true. In fact, I would have to learn how to live.

Over time, I not only learned how to live, I thrived.

A few years into my diagnosis, I realized there is more work to do. I didn't see safe spaces for young women living with HIV. I decided it was time to share my story with the world and provide safe spaces. This is how Aniyah’s Space was birthed. I shared my personal story in my book titled Life After HIV: Removing the Mask in 2018 and launched Aniyah’s Space a year later.

Aniyah’s Space provides holistic care services for women living with HIV aged 18-30. We understand that a diagnosis of HIV can be multifaceted and we want to ensure that the women are equipped to take care of every area of their lives. We ensure that we go beyond the diagnosis.

“Aniyah’s Space is a safe place where all women of different ages could come and talk about neglected issues from their adolescent years. When I think of Aniyah’s Space, I think of a woman who has tossed aside the problems she’s had since as young girl but now wants to boldly confront them. She’s taken back to that girl who once didn’t know how to use her voice, was afraid of rejection, vulnerable to men and didn’t trust her own judgement. When she experience the benefits of this organization, she will be more confident, obedient to God and truly love herself. This space doesn’t judge her opinions, but allow her to express her feelings about faith and also share her talents with other like minded women. Aniyah’s Space is an organization that is considered a rescuer of buried emotions.”
